Annual tuition and fee schedules are established in January for the following school year.

*The cost of these programs is tax deductible in most instances.

Payment Options
Full Payment Plan:  Full tuition is paid by July 1. The Installment Plan Reserve is optional for anyone choosing this payment method.
Semester Payment Plan:  Half of the total tuition is paid by July 1 and the remainder paid no later than December 1.  The Installment Plan Reserve fee is required.
Monthly Payment Plan:  The first tuition installment is paid by July 1 and the remaining 11 payments are due by the first of each month.  The Installment Plan Reserve fee is required. 

Fees
Enrollment Fee:  When a student is offered a contract, the enrollment fee is $200.00 per student.  Payment is rendered at the time of signing the contract.  Re-enrollment fees are charged each year.
Building Fund Fee:  Each family is charged a yearly $200.00 building fund fee, 1/2 to be paid by July 1, and 1/2 to be paid by Dec 1.
Technology Fee:  The technology fee for students in Pre-First Three - 12th grade is $60.00 per year.
Curriculum/Textbook Fee:  There is a $100.00 fee per student in Pre-First Three – 5th Grade to cover the cost of workbooks, curriculum materials, and textbook rentals.  Students in grades 6th-12th purchase textbooks.
Dual Enrollment Classes:  There is an additional charge per class for courses where student also earns college credit.  Charge is determined by tuition rates at the college.

Facts About the Installment Plan Reserve
This plan assists you in meeting your financial obligation to the school should you withdraw a student for any reason.  Participation is required for the semester and monthly payment plans.  A student must attend school for fourteen calendar days to activate the IPR; after fourteen calendar days, IPR will pay a predetermined percentage of the unused yearly tuition. Late entrants must have yearly premium upon signing a contract.

Possible reasons for withdrawal may include the following:
Personal, Injury or sickness, Change of objective, Death of parent or student, Disciplinary dismissal, Scholastic failure, Financial problems,   Emotional difficulties, Transfer of family

The Plan Benefits include the following: 
Medical:  Effective August 1 - the last day of the academic year.  This applies for withdrawal or medical absences for 31 or more consecutive days.
Non-Medical:  Applies to the academic year after meeting the attendance requirement of 14 days.
Dismissal:  Outlined in contracts.

Late Entrants:  Premium must be paid upon the signing of a contract.  Medical coverage begins on the date of receipt of payment, and non-medical coverage begins after day 14 of the attendance requirement.

Financial Assistance
Thomas Sumter Academy offers financial assistance for qualifying families.  We partner with an external evaluation company, the SSS Corporation of Princeton, to make determinations.  Financial aid information/applications are available in the business office or you may file online at sss.nais.org.  Consideration will be given after a family has filed financial aid information with the SSS Corporation and a final evaluation is received. 

Facts about financial aid

  • You must reapply each year for financial aid
  • There is a nominal filing fee.
  • A copy of your tax return must be filed with SSS Corporation as stated in the financial aid packet.
  • The deadline to file for financial aid is April 20 for current students.
